Professional Qualifications Setup

Setting Up the Specialist:

  1.  On the top tool bar in Futura go to Setup > Specialists and edit into a specialists record. Click the button at the bottom of the screen labeled “Prof Qual”.

2.  On the Tech Professional Qualification screen click “Insert”, then on the smaller screen that comes up click the drop down arrow in the “Qual” field.

3.  On the, Select Professional Qualifications screen click “Insert”. On the smaller screen that comes up fill in the “Title” field with the description of the Qualification for this specialist and the “Abrev” field with it    abbreviation. Ex; Certified Orthotist – CO, Certified Prosthetist – CP.

Save your entry. At this point if you would like to add the rest of the certifications that you will be needing you can just click the insert button again and add them.

 

4.  Once you’re done adding your certifications, select the one that is needed for the specialist that you are working on. Click save on the Professional Qualifications screen and then exit out of the Tech Professional Qualification screen.

Setting Up the HCPC Code:

  1. On the top tool bar in Futura go to Setup > Codes > HCPC. Select and edit a code you would like to add a Professional Qualification Restriction too. On the Billing & Modifiers tab click the button labeled “Prof Qual Restriction”.

2.  On the HCPC Professional Qualification screen click “Insert”, then on the smaller screen that comes up click the drop down arrow in the “Qual” field. You should see the list of Qualifications that you added when setting up the specialists. Select through all the ones that are needed for the HCPC code you are editing.

How it works:

Now that you have your system setup, when you create an appointment for a specialist and you pull through a HCPC code in the “About” field, if the specialist does not have the proper qualifications to provide the type of service associated with the selected HCPC code a warning will pop letting you know. NOTE: If the HCPC procedure code does not have any Qualification Restrictions assigned to it, it will be allowed to be added to any specialists appointments.
